About the Work

Matt and Ellen Zell serving in Honduras

Matt and Ellen Zell are serving with Equip International, Inc., in Honduras.  Their target people group are the Lenca Indians.

The Lenca are an unreached indigenous Indian group of about 100,000 people who live in the western mountains ofHonduras.  The Lenca live by subsistence farming and sometimes by hiring out to the large agriculture companies as cheap day labor. There is virtually no evangelical outreach to the Lenca.  There is no Christian church in the area Matt and Ellen are targeting.

Matt and Ellen look forward to working with the Lenca utilizing the information from Community Health Evangelism, CHE, which has lesson plans on health, hygiene, sustainable agriculture and appropriate technologies, all to be presented simultaneously with the Scriptures for an approach that truly meets the needs of the whole person.  Importantly, the CHEmethod is based on community ownership, in which the community decides the projects, the community sets the goals, and the community does the work.  CHE has been proven effective in evangelism, discipleship and establishing churches by hundreds of mission organizations and churches around the globe.
